GMR Hyderabad gets Assocham award for corporate governance

The operator of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here received an award for excellence in corporate governance instituted by industry body Assocham.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport today said it has received Assocham 2nd Corporate Governance Excellence Award 2015-16 as runners-up under the unlisted private sector company category. The award was given at the Assocham summit organised recently in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal and Sunil Kanoria, President of Assocham, handed over the award trophy and certificate to Rajesh Arora, Chief Financial Officer of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) at the event, the firm said in a release.
 

"We are thankful to Assocham for bestowing upon us this prestigious award. We believe this is yet another recognition of GHIAL's efforts to build a strong management and governance framework and also as a testament to GMR Group's commitment to excellence in corporate governance," the company's CEO S G K Kishore said.

About 140 companies participated for awards in six categories based on their financial net worth. Of them, 35 were shortlisted from which 11 companies received awards, given on the basis of an assessment done by an independent expert agency, the release said.

GHIAL won the award in category of Unlisted Private Companies (turnover less than Rs 500 crore).
