GMR Infrastructure today said its GVPGL power plant at Vemagiri in Andhra Pradesh has started operations under government's scheme for utilisation of gas based power plants.

"GMR Vemagiri Power Generation Limited (GVPGL) at Vemagiri successfully commenced its operation from August 12, 2015 under 'Scheme for Utilisation of Stranded Gas based power plants' as launched by Government of India (GoI) in the month of March, 2015," the firm said in a BSE filing.

With a capacity of 370 MW, the plant is operating at 95 per cent plant load factor (PLF) at present, thereby generating 350 MW and supplying power to AP Transco.

"Current operations will continue up to September 30, thereafter GoI will call for a fresh round of bidding. The scheme envisages government subsidies from the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) through a transparent ebid process," it said.

Shares of GMR Infrastructure were trading at Rs 12.80 apiece, down by 3.83 per cent, on the BSE.
