An armed militant of the banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) has surrendered to the Border Security Force in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, a BSF official said today.
25-year-old Dikki M Sangma, involved in many extortion activities in Garobada, Kherapara, Barengapara and Chokpot in the district, surrendered last night.
Sangma joined the rebel force in 2011 and underwent arms training in the Durama hills for a period of six months during which he learnt handling of AK Series weapons, pistols, INSAS, grenades among other arms and explosives, BSF spokesperson Ravi Gandhi told PTI.

The outfit is involved in kidnapping, extortion and killings of both security forces and civilians and is active in at least five western Garo Hills districts in the state, Gandhi said.
