Go for solar energy in govt offices and schools: Pb Gov

Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil today stressed on installation of solar power projects in government schools, college and municipal corporation offices.

Presiding over a meeting here today to review the Solar Energy Programme of UT Chandigarh, Patil said all government schools and colleges should have solar power plants at their rooftops within the minimum possible time.

Chandigarh Housing Board should install Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at houses already constructed under Slum Rehabilitation Scheme and provision for same should be kept for all newer houses being constructed by the Board, he said.

Patil exhorted Municipal Corporations to install Solar Power Plants at its offices, all community centres, dispensaries and fire stations in a time bound manner.
 

The Governor said innovative technology in battery storage should be also be explored and used for small residential houses.
