Go Sports Foundation today announced names of 23 athletes, including rising golfing star S Chikkarangappa, national badminton champion K Srikanth and young tennis player B Nikshep, who have been selected for various scholarship programmes for year 2014.
The scholarships comprise of three categories based on the athletes' level of competition.
2013 PGTI rookie of the year Chikkarangappa, Paralympian swimmer Sharath Gayakwad, shuttlers HS Prannoy, Gurusaidutt and Sourabh Verma are five athletes who will be part of the ACE Management Programme, which offers pro bono advisory and consultation services by a panel of experts, consisting of nutritionists, psychologists and fitness trainers.

The second category is PACE Scholarships that are offered to promising junior athletes aged between 13 and 21 year from Olympic and Paralympic disciplines in their run-up to graduating to senior competition.
Olympian paddler Soumyajit Ghosh, Srikanth and Nikshep among the 16 athletes who will be part of this programme.
In the third category, PACER Special Grants are offered to talented athletes from Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. Athletes are provided access to fitness experts, or helping injured athletes undergo treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
Srikanth, who is spearheading the Indian challenge at the ongoing Indian Open in Lucknow, said, "I'm extremely grateful for the support offered to me by GoSports Foundation for the past two years. The financial grant has helped me participate in more tournaments abroad, and improve my world ranking. With continued support, I hope to perform better and finish 2014 as a top-15 player in the world.
