The Goa State Pollution Control Board today granted two private firms "consent to operate" to handle coal at Mormugao Port.
The approval for JSW's South West Port Limited and Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Private Limited comes with a coal handling cap of 0.4 million tonnes per month, GSPCB Member-Secretary Lavinson Martins told reporters today.
"This coal handling cap of 0.4 million tonnes per month cannot be carried forward to the next month," Martis said after the pollution control board's meeting today.
The GSPCB had, earlier on January 8 this year, revoked the "consent to operate" approval of JSW's South West Port Limited after the firm allegedly handled coal in excess of what was mandated.
