Goa beat Jharkhand by 58 runs

A composed half century by skipper Swapnil Asnodkar and fine bowling by Gauresh Gawas helped Goa thrash Jharkhand by 58 runs in the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy group 'A' match here today.

Batting first, Goa made 172 runs for loss of 4 wickets and restricted Jharkhand on 114 for eight in the match, played at Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) stadium at Khandheri.

Asnodkar and Sagun Kamat gave a decent start, scoring 88 runs for the opening wicket off just 10.2 overs, before Kamat got out after making 40.

Asnodkar was the second man to be dismissed after making 47 off 57 balls, with six fours and a six.
 

Rohit Asnodkar (22) and Amit Yadav (13) remained unbeaten as Goa set Jharkhand a target of 173 runs.

However, Jharkhand team floundered yet again losing Ishank Jaggi (6), Raju Kumar (11), Virat Singh (0) and Kumar Deobrat (0).

Shiv Gautam (30) and Kaushal Singh (42) were the only two batsmen to put some resistance against Goa bowlers.

Jharkhand made 114 for eight and suffered their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Gawas took three wickets for 18 runs while Darshan Misal grabbed two for 15.
