Goa government has decided to blacklist a company selected under central government's accelerated power development reforms programme (APDRP) after it failed to execute the work within the given time and the Rs 8 crore surety given by it has been forfeited.

State power minister Milind Naik told said that the state ministry has issued a show cause notice to Nagpur-based Spanco Power Distribution Limited as it failed to execute the first phase of the works under APDRP.

"Central government has sanctioned Rs 105 crore under APDRP for various projects in Goa. The state government on July 18, 2011 had entered into an agreement with the company to finish the first phase within 18 months, which it has failed to do," the minister told reporters.

State government has now decided to blacklist the company and a show cause notice has already been sent to it, he said, adding that the company has already been shown doors in five other states.

"We will forfeit the surety of Rs 8 crore kept with the state government by the company," the minister added.

Goa has been given a target to complete all the works under APDRP by 2014.

Naik said that the state has sought extension of one year with the union power ministry to complete the works, which can be undertaken only after retendering.
