Amid allegations of inefficiency of ministers, the Goa Cabinet has approved a proposal to appoint an officer on special duty (OSD) to each of the ministers to help them in managing the affairs of their departments.

The state Cabinet that met on Friday cleared the proposal for one additional staff for the ministers, who will work as an OSD to them.

The proposal was to appoint eleven officers, which means an officer for each of the ministers.

The state will have to share a burden of Rs 90 lakh per annum in the form of salaries for them, a senior Cabinet minister told PTI.

Several ministers in the Manohar Parrikar-led government are facing allegations of inefficiency.

During the recent BJP Goa state executive meeting, the second rung leaders complained to the chief minister about the inefficiency of the ministers resulting in low performance of the government.

The decision to appoint OSD for each of the ministers was tabled during the last state Cabinet meeting, but was passed during this week, a senior minister said.
