Goa Cabinet clears RFQ document for new airport

The Goa Cabinet today approved the request for qualification (RFQ) document for the proposed greenfield airport in North Goa's Mopa village.

The Cabinet meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The government will invite applications for RFQ in order to shortlist experienced and capable applicants to execute the project.

"The applicants' competence and capability will be established by taking into account their technical capacity and financial capacity.

"The important qualifications are development experience in airport sector, core sector, operational experience, net worth....And others," according to the document.

The environment impact assessment (EIA) for the airport is being conducted by central PSU Engineers India Ltd and the exercise will cost Rs 19 lakhs.
 

A concession agreement will be signed only after the EIA study is completed and a clearance is obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, it added.
