Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav believes that Goa can show the way on green politics in India considering the state's past history of fighting for environmental causes.

"In the case of Goa, I don't look at the state as a tourist destination. It faces special challenges due to organised corruption. But Goa also represents a legacy of people's movement. I see Goa as the state which can show path to the country in the form of green politics," Yadav told reporters.

He said Goa in the past had environmental movements which were successfully run by the literate electorate.

"Goa has a tradition of citizen activism. We have tradition of people's involvement. This is a place where we look up to Goa for a special reason," Yadav said.

He said Swaraj Abhiyan sees itself as a political movement. "But we are not into electoral politics. We don't want to form a political party right now. After some time we will review what we are doing. Abhiyan currently is working across India."

Yadav said Swaraj Abhiyan will not be driven by personality cult.

"And the movement won't be Delhi-based. We are an organisation with regional independence and the organisation will have no tolerance for integrity issue," he added.

"The whole point about India is that it is different. The unity of this country cannot be seen in terms of uniformity. This country is united with its differences. What we call local in India would be on the scale of province of the country anywhere in the world," he said.
