Functions organised during upcoming visit of Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa to poll-bound Goa, where he has ancestral links, would be monitored by the office of the Goa Chief Electoral Officer.
"Our team will monitor all the functions which will be attended by the Portuguese Prime Minister. We want to ensure that those speeches are not used for political announcements," Goa CEO Kunal told reporters today.
He said a team of CEO will be present at Costa's events and monitor speeches made there.

During his two-day visit to the coastal state, beginning January 11, Costa will attend a string of events.
Goa is going to polls on February 4.
Costa has ancestral links with Goa, once a Portuguese colony.
Union and Goa governments have already secured requisite permission from ECI which has allowed to put up Costa's photographs at airport and at hotel where he would be staying.
"There would be no restriction on display or hoisting of flags of India and Portugal during the functions which would be attended by him (Costa)," Kunal said.
Costa would call on state Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who is hosting a lunch for him.
He would attend different private functions organised by local community and institutions fostering Indo-Portuguese ties.
Costa will visit his ancestral home in Margao on January 12.
