BJP today said the circular issued by the Goa Church advising the people to vote for secular parties would not affect its election prospects.

"There is no impact of the circular on the minority community. In fact, we are garnering more support from the minority communities compared to earlier elections," BJP MP and the party's candidate from North Goa Shripad Naik said.

He visited both temples and churches during his campaign and the catholic priests too blessed him, he said.

"I can feel that their blessings were from the heart," the BJP candidate said.

Responding to a question, Naik said the Archbishop of Goa Church had not said anything against the saffron party.

"He has said we should elect secular candidates, and I consider BJP to be a secular party," Naik said.
