Goa CM launches mobile app for farmers

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today launched a mobile application aimed at providing knowledge as well as "actionable information" to farmers, developed by a business conglomerate.

The 'Jai Kisaan App', an initiative of Adventz group, a conglomerate of 25 companies, will not only help farmers in providing database but will also help them in various initiatives of the government such as health cards.

"The companies with the farming sector should ensure responsibility, accountability and duty for the sake of inclusive growth and development of farmers," the chief minister said while addressing the gathering.

The app is a part of Adventz Digitalisation Roadmap complementing the government's Digital India move, said Zuari Global Limited's Managing Director Suresh Krishnan.
 

"'Jai Kisaan' app will provide knowledge and actionable information to farmers, help them engage better with Adventz Group's agri-focused companies Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited, Paradip Phosphates Limited and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers; extend benefits of expert access and agri services, critical for the community's livelihood," he said.

The application is a one-stop solution on agri information and cultivation, covering crop nutrition, protection, seeds, and diagnostic services, the organisers said in a press release.

"Such services include soil testing and customised information wherein farmers will have access to fertiliser recommendations on the basis of crop and target yields, through Adventz Group's repository of information and experience from brands Jai Kisaan, Navratna and Mangala," it added.

The application will also provide real-time access to agriculture experts for advice that have a tangible impact on the way crop cultivation is done at each farmer's level, by customizing the advisory for him.

"Other benefits include the access to commodity market prices and a five-day weather forecast, to assist the farmer in making critical decisions related to his farm income," it said.
