Welcoming the fuel pump owners' demand for 'one nation one rate' for petroleum products in the country, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said petrol rates applicable in Goa should be replicated in other states as well for the benefit of people.
"Goa's petrol rates should be accepted by entire nation. Let all people benefit from the rates. I welcome the move to have 'one nation one rate' concept," Parsekar told reporters.
His reply came amid the demand by fuel pump owners in the country for adoption of 'one nation one rate' for petroleum products in order to eliminate disparity in prevailing prices of petrol and diesel.

"Let the people (from other states also) take benefit out of it," he added.
After coming to power in 2012, the BJP-led state government under then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had removed VAT on petrol, slashing the prices by Rs 11 per litre.
The government later re-imposed VAT but with a rider that petrol rates would not be allowed to cross Rs 60 per litre.
