The Congress on Friday opposed the BJP-led Goa government's decision to shift six casinos from Mandovi river to Aguada Bay in Calangute.
The state government had, earlier this week, granted six-month extension to these casinos to operate from Mandovi river, though the port department also began work to locate a suitable place for them in Aguada Bay.
Opposing the move, Congress spokesperson Agnelo Fernandes said these casinos will not be allowed into Aguada Bay as it would give rise to problems of prostitution and drugs in Calangute belt.
