Goa government has not received any proposal for Def Expo: CM

The Goa government has not received any proposal to host the defence expo in the coastal state scheduled for next year, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the House.

The state had hosted the defence expo in south Goa in 2016.

"Such proposal has not been received by the Government," Parrikar said in a written reply to a question raised by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar.

Parrikar, who was the defence minister when the expo was held, said that hosting of such event generated indirect employment for local carpenters, labourers, civil material suppliers, hotels, canteens and others.

The chief minister said that since the event was organised by the defence ministry, the details about revenue earned from the event are not available with the state government.
 

Responding to another question, Parrikar said "Rs 3.23 crore were spent by the state towards creation of infrastructure in Quittol industrialestate, where the event was held.
