Goa government today shortlisted four sites across various rivers to relocate the offshore casinos which are currently anchored in river Mandovi.

It was decided in the high level committee meeting held at secretariat that the offshore casinos can operate from Aguada bay and rivers -- Sal, Chapora and Zuari where they can be shifted.

"The casino operators have agreed to shift away from river Mandovi provided government gives them the required infrastructure," state Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.

The casinos are expected to move out by December this year.

The BJP-led government was facing criticism for not being able to shift the casinos from river Mandovi despite assuring to do so in their 2012 election manifesto.

Parulekar said state government is fulfilling it's promise to get the casino vessels away from river Mandovi.
