He told reporters here that the state government would request the Centre to initiate a CBI inquiry against the MoEF officials, "who illegally gave environment clearances (EC) to the mines in Goa".
"If the central government is reluctant, then we will move for a CBI inquiry into the matter," Parrikar said, adding that the state government can even file a case with the Crime Branch in this matter.
Parrikar, in the recent past had claimed that the MoEF officials were bribed by various mining firms to get the ECs. After this, the war of words between MoEF and Parrikar has been going on. The state government, in its draft mining policy, hinted at allowing the handling of the mining dumps, which piled across the state.
MoEF has said that the state government should consult it them before exporting the dumps.
Reacting to the MoEF's stand, Parrikar today said that the state government would allow the dumps to be moved, subject to the legal clearance.
