Goa government will set up a cell which will reach to the families in distress, thereby preventing incidents of taking extreme steps or suicides, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said.
"The government is reaching to maximum people through its social welfare schemes but there are isolated families where could not be reached out. The cell will be monitoring the families in distress," he told reporters here on sidelines of Independence day celebrations.
Taking cognisance on the recent incident of suicide committed by a family of three, including a minor daughter, Parrikar said that earlier, there used to be a strong social system within villages, which kept an eye on such families or people and helped them in crisis.
