Goa man accused of rape

A woman from Chandigarh has alleged

that a Goa-based man raped her after promising to marry her while his mother duped her of cash and gold, police said today.

The Verna Police here lodged a case yesterday against Leocadia Fernandes and her son Valentine based on the complaint filed by the woman, who also alleged that she was lured to meet the accused duo in Goa, they said.

She accused the man of raping her on the pretext of marrying. She also alleged that Leocadia took gold ornaments and Rs two lakh cash from her while promising that it would be given back to her during marriage, police said.
 

"We have registered case under sections 420 (cheating), 376 (rape), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC. The investigations are going on," police inspector Shailesh Narvekar said.

The accused have not been arrested so far.
