Congress MP from Goa Shantaram Naik said he had taken up the matter with I & B Minister Ambika Soni and also written to Censor Board.

"Freedom of expression does not give license to a film producer or a director to play with the sentiments of others, much less with religious sentiments," he said.

Naik contended CBFC can review their decisions on the ground that it could not assess the impact of disputed scenes on the society till after the film was released.

He said the producer, the director and others in charge of film production and distribution were liable for action under sections 295A and 298 of the IPC -- the two main provisions dealing with offences relating to religions.
