The Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa police has decided to strengthen its network of informants, following the allegations about flourishing drug trade in the coastal areas of the state.

Senior officials of ANC held a meeting at the police headquarters this evening to chart out a strategy ahead of the tourist season that will start from the next month.

"Lots of things are planned. One of them is to strengthen the network of informants," Karthik Kashyap, Superintendent of Police (ANC), told reporters.

Ruling BJP MLA Michael Lobo had recently submitted a list of alleged druglords to the Director General of Police, alleging that police were not acting against the drug trade.

Kashyap also said that strength of ANC will be increased, so that vigilance along the coast can be enhanced. Currently, at the lower level, it has only one police inspector and a sub-inspector, apart from constables.

The cell will get better infrastructure too, he added.
