Days after a section of Congress MLAs rebelled against him for "lacking aggression", Leader of the Opposition in Goa Assembly Pratapsinh Rane today said he was impervious to criticism because he believes in standard democratic practices wherein creating din is not the only way to protest.
"Let them criticise. I have seen working of democracies across the world," Rane said.
He was responding to a query on the discontent against his style of leadership within the Congress Legislature Party.

Seven out of nine MLAs had expressed their desire to replace Rane ahead of the last Assembly session but the rebellion was capped by the Central leadership before it could blow out of proportion.
"I am trying to emulate advanced democracies. Let's behave properly. It is not only criticism or only hitting out that matters...I have my own way (of doing things)," said Rane in the first-ever public reaction to the resentment against him.
With nine MLAs, Congress is the biggest opposition party in the 40-member House.
