Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said the Centre's decision to provide funds from the Central Road Fund (CRF) for the development of inland waterways will immensely benefit the state.
"Earmarking 2.5 per cent of the CRF for the development of waterways, as approved by the union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will immensely benefit Goa," Parrikar said today.
"Thanks to union minister Nitin Gadkari, the Centre has prioritised the development of national waterways across Chapora and Mapusa rivers in Goa," he added.

According to Parrikar, the decision presents a great opportunity for Goa to move towards affordable and efficient modes of transport.
The union cabinet on Wednesday approved allocation of 2.5 per cent of the Central Road Fund for National Waterways (NWs) that would result in about Rs 2,000 crore proceeds per annum for their development.
