Nightlife industry players from across the country are meeting in Goa to discuss various issues affecting the industry at the 'Nightlife Convention 2013' beginning today.

The first-of-its-kind gathering holds significance against the backdrop of various pressing issues, like time restrictions to name a few, plaguing the nightlife in metros. The two-day conclave will be held at Arpora village in North Goa.

"Various pressing issues before the industry would be discussed. There are several factors like sound and time restriction (that) are proving impediment to the growth of the industry which is connected to tourism sector," Saarthak Gupta, CEO, Mypurplemartini. Com, India's first social networking nightlife portal told reporters today.

The portal is hosting this event which will bring together various stake-holders like clubs, restaurants, bar-owners, hoteliers, DJs, event companies, promoters, artists management firms, liquor brands among others.

On nocturnal outing in the beach state, Gupta said nightlife in Goa is best compared to any other hip location in the country.

"You can walk around on beach with a bottle of beer in hand. This liberty you cannot enjoy elsewhere in country," he said.

The organisers, however, concede that nightlife in India is lacklustre compared to international tourism destinations.

Bollywood celebrities, including actors Tapsee Pannu, Sameer Kochhar, Grand Masti-fame Kainat Arora, British-Pakistani actress Sashaa Aagha, Brazilian actress Bruna Abdullah, Romanian model Andreea Balan, will be around 200 delegates participating in the event.
