Goa will invite tenders for setting up and running garbage treatment plants on BOOT basis in three locations of the state, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said today.
The plants would treat around 400-600 tonnes of garbage generated in the state daily, which is currently left untreated due to lack of such facilities, Parrikar told PTI.
During his personal visit to Germany recently, Parrikar had visited a garbage treatment plant at Kaiserslautern, an American military base 110 kms away from Frankfurt, where such a kind of plant has been set up.

"The by-product of the treatment would be fuel pallets or gas which can be used for commercial use," Parrikar said.
The state government has already shortlisted the companies which will participate in the tendering process, he said.
The projects would run on BOOT
(build-own-operate-transfer) basis while the state government would do gap funding.
