The Goa government will next month start an exercise of scrutinising 4,200-odd applications received to regularise unauthorised structures mostly built on private lands, the Assembly was informed today.
Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte told the House the exercise will begin from August 10 through special taluka- level teams formed by his department.
The department has received 4,200-odd applications from people across the state seeking regularisation of their unauthorised structures, he said.
Initially, structures built on private lands would be taken for scrutiny, he said during the Question Hour.
"The government will not entertain any application for regularisation of structures built in coastal regulation zones, agriculture lands, protected forest areas, no development zones or public lands," he said.
Of the total applications, 1,984 are from North Goa district and 2,245 from South Goa, he said.
Applications received from South Goa related to structures on private land, while in North Goa, 32 pleas have been received for regularisation of buildings on government land, Khaunte said.
