Goa's state liquor traders body has called for a boycott on sale of bottled beer of two of prime liquor brands after they entered into a dispute with the company.

Goa Liquor Traders' Association (GLTA) President Dattaprasad Naik told PTI today that association members have resolved to stop purchase of Kingfisher beer 650 ml and 330 ml pint, besides Budweiser pints from all Goa distributors.

Naik said these companies have began an empty bottle deposit system which exists only in Goa and nowhere else in India.

Beer companies have asked traders to pay for the empty bottle fee when they purchase stock.

Naik said association members have been asked to liquidate all existing stock by May 7 and completely remove the boycotted beer from shelves from May 8 onwards.

"However, the GLTA has decided to continue selling Kingfisher beer cans and Heinken beer till further notice," he added.
