Goa trounce Tripura for 1st Ranji win this season

Goa recorded their first win in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, beating Tripura by 49 runs in their Group C encounter here today.

The home team, which had set Tripura a target of 256, dismissed the visitors for 206 today to be third from bottom in the group standings with eight points.

Pacer Harshad Hanumant Gadekar starred with the ball for Goa, snaring five wickets in 18.4 overs, conceding 49 runs.

Tripura, precariously placed at 72 for two when stumps were drawn yesterday, were failed by most of their batsmen barring K B Pawan (77) and skipper Yogesh Takawale (44).
 

Pawan's knock-in-vain came off 144 balls and included nine fours and a six. Takawale took 130 deliveries and hit six boundaries during the course of his innings.
