GOC 101 Area calls on Assam Chief Secy, DGP

General Officer Commanding 101 Area Lt Gen D S Ahuja today called on Assam Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia and Director General of Police Mukesh Sahay here to discuss several security related and other issues.

Lt Gen Ahuja, accompanied by GOC 51 Sub Area Maj Gen Arun Kumar, called on the Chief Secretary at the state secretariat and discussed the ongoing water crisis at Narangi and Bashishtha Cantonment in detail, an official release said.

The issues of handing over of land for establishment of an Army Institute of Nursing and the problem of illegal occupation of forest land around Narangi Cantonment were also deliberated upon in detail.
 

The GOC also called on the DGP at the Assam Police headquarters and the two officers deliberated upon the security situation in the state, the release said.

It is pertinent to note that the 101 Area, with its Head Quarters at Shillong, has a major role to play with its area of responsibility spread across the entire North Eastern region of the country covering.

The role of the formation in addition to other things includes rear area security, disaster management, aid to civil authorities as internal security responsibility when called upon, welfare of ex-serviceman and veer naaris, the release said adding, the formation also contributes towards the development of the region and environmental preservation.
