He appreciated the Army's 'Maitri Divas', observed in forward areas of India-China border, to strengthen ties between the two countries and promised his government's support for it.
On being informed about the low number of Arunachali youth in the Army, Khandu asked the Army officials to conduct prior training and coaching programmes to help the young prepare for the examination and physical tests.
He also discussed erection of the long-pending war memorial here in memory of martyred Arunachali soldiers. The Lt General assured support and offered to help erect the memorial with display of old trophies to attract visitors.
Both of them also talked about establishment of an Army brigade here for which 500 acres have been identified, the release said.
Khandu hoped the presence of defence forces would generate not only a sense of security, but speed up development activities in the area, the communique added.
