The General Officer Commanding
of Gajraj Corps Lt Gen Shantanu Dayal on Tuesday called on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and discussed various issues related to internal security of the state.
The GOC apprised Sonowal of various measures that are being taken by the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles for achieving peace, development and prosperity in the state, defence spokesperson Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said.
The chief minister and Lt Gen Dayal discussed various other issues, including the prevailing "normal situation" in the state, he said.
The GOC also informed Sonowal of the work done by the Army in the field of woman empowerment, youth development, uplift of the living standard of people residing in the remote areas of the state.
The chief minister hailed the armed forces for their contribution to improve the security situation in the state and their support in ensuring the wellbeing of people.
