GOC-in-C visits Kishtwar, assures full support to civil admin

The General Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Northern Command, today visited Kishtwar district and assured the civil administration of full support for handling the security situation.

During his visit to the Force Headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles, Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra was briefed about the Army's efforts in restoring normalcy in Kishtwar and Gulabgarh areas, PRO, Defence, Jammu, Col R K Palta said.

Chachra was also briefed by the civil administration and police, Palta said.

The Army Commander assured the civil administration of full support and cooperation of the Army for handling the security situation, he said.

He complimented the Force HQ Rashtriya Rifles and all ranks of the Delta Force for the assistance provided to the state administration in a most professional manner.
 

Curfew was imposed in Kishtwar on August 9 after communal clashes broke out there in which three persons were killed, over 20 others injured and 75 business establishments along with 35 vehicles gutted. Restrictions were lifted today with situation returning to normalcy.
