Godown burgled at in Bhiwandi

A godown in powerloom town of Bhiwandi was burgled in and cigarettes worth Rs 18 lakh were stolen, police said today.

The incident occurred last night wherein burglars decamped with 24 cartons of two brands of cigarettes, collectively worth Rs 17,94,128, said AV Bhawari, Assistant Police Inspector of Bhiwandi city police station.

He said the warehouse was owned by one Sridhar Kulkarni of Maharashtra Agency, who deals in distribution of cigarettes, chocolates and confectionery items.

An offence was registered under various sections of IPC, police said, adding that they are yet to make any arrests.
