The Delhi BJP president claimed that PWD Minister Rajkumar Chauhan and East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit, commenting on the incident, had said that "Congress workers were not wearing bangles (Choodiyan Nahi Pehan Rakhi)".
"Such comment is an insult to women," he said. Goel said he met the Police Commissioner and requested him to lodge FIR against the Congressmen allegedly involved in the incident on Saturday.
On the clashes between Congress and BJP workers, Goel said black flags were being shown to Congress leaders as people are agitated against them on a range of issues including hike in power and water tariff and price rise.
"Previously the Chief Minister had stated that only Delhi police is responsible for the security of women and now she wants to serve her purpose by creating fear psychosis in them," he said
Goel said many BJP leaders had sustained injuries in the incident. "But FIR is not being registered at the police station because the Congress leaders are exerting pressure on them."
Dikshit had criticised police accusing it of failing to make proper arrangement for the event.
