Press Trust of India Guwahati
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 'Ganesha' remark and said he was placing mythology over science, but at the same breath lauding scientists.

"PM (Narendra) Modi acknowledges elephant-headed Hindu God Ganesha had undergone plastic surgery. Is it not mythology taking precedence over science," Gogoi tweeted.

"On the other, PM Modi praises our scientists for their successful mission to Mars," Gogoi said in the microblogging site.

Sharpening his attack on the BJP on the 'Hindutva' issue, the chief minister's office also issued a press release saying the saffron party had two faces to hoodwink the people.

"HRD Minister Smriti Irani put a ban on foreign language German in centrally-run Kendriya Vidyalayas", Gogoi said.

"BJP talks of secularism, unity and amity among all communities. At the same time, some of its leaders push the 'Hindutva' agenda aggressively", the chief minister said.

"Does it not expose two faces of BJP? Will such divergent views lead the country in the 21st Century? Is it a calculated move to hoodwink people?" Gogoi asked.
