A high powered committee, chaired by Assam Chief Minister, today expressed concern over the Centre's decision to suspend registration of industrial units under the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP).

The suspension has adversely affected the investment scenario of the state, Gogoi said at the meeting here.

He also pointed out that most of the industrial units in the state are coming up in Kamrup (Metro) and Kamrup (Rural) districts.

He suggested that the units set up away from Guwahati should be considered for more benefits or incentives as compared to those coming up in the two Kamrup districts.

The committee also cleared three projects.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Industries and Commerce Basanta Das and other senior officials.
