Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the Centre had violated the "Constitutional propriety" and the "very spirit of cooperative federalism" by recommending President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh.
"The (Union) Cabinet nod on dissolution of Arunachal Assembly and recommendation of President's Rule is a gross violation of the Constitutional propriety and the very spirit of cooperative federalism," Gogoi said in a press conference.
He said the entire matter was sub-judice and currently pending at the Supreme Court, and the Centre could have waited for some more days.
"In such a situation, I do not think it is appropriate to dissolve the Assembly. Moreover, there is no such breakdown of law and order in the state," Gogoi said.
He also said that Governors of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Tripura were "behaving like RSS pracharaks".
"It is most unfortunate that the President had to remind them of their Constitutional obligation and how to behave. Such incidents have exposed the undemocratic and dictatorial attitude of the Modi government," he said.
