"Assam government is instigating and encouraging communal violence in various parts of the state to divert attention from its failure to contain anti-India attacks in Kokrajhar. It has been silent and remained a mute spectator to the violence unleashed by the goons of All Assam Minority Students Union (AMSU)," BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said.
He alleged that the Tarun Gogoi government is trying to shield the culprits and is giving them a free hand to attack the Assamese people.
"The Centre must immediately take stern action against the fundamentalist and fascist anti-national elements like AMSU and ban AMSU, as it is another form of SIMI in Assam," Vijay said.
The BJP cautioned that immediate action should be taken against Bangladeshi infiltrators who are changing the demographic profile of Assam.
"While Supreme Court has rightfully upheld death sentence to Ajmal Kasab for waging war against India- and we demand that he be immediately hanged with Afzal Guru- it is surprising that Bangladeshi infiltrators, who are also waging a demographic war against India are being protected by central and Assam government," Vijay said.
He claimed that AMSU members had attacked the media and shouted 'Pakistan zindabad' slogans.
"AMSU goons selectively chose Hindu homes and shops to loot and arson, killed a poor Hindu belonging to Scheduled Caste and threatened them. They have sophisticated fire-arms including hand grenades with them," he said.
