Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today held a high-level meeting with senior state government officials to take stock of the flood situation in Tamil Nadu.
"The Chief Minister today reviewed the Chennai situation with the chief secretary, additional chief secretary and other senior officials of the state government. As per reports, the condition is improving and water is receding fast," Assam State Disaster Management Authority chief executive officer P K Tiwari told a press conference here.
The state government will also consider sending a senior person to Chennai, if needed, to coordinate local authorities for helping the people from Assam, he said.

He said so far families of 22 persons from Assam had contacted the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, which has passed on the information to its counterpart in Chennai for immediate action.
