Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today hoped that the setting up of the first Central Library, Archive cum Auditorium in the state at Amingaon, near here, would benefit students, researchers and scholars.
Gogoi, while laying the foundation stone of the library, said that his government had always laid emphasis on education and initiated various schemes leading to all-round development in the education sector.
"Ever since we assumed office way back in 2001, our thrust has all along been on education in tune with modern times. No society can forge ahead without education," he said.

"The state has forged ahead on various fronts in the past almost 14 years, but there are still problems to be addressed. We'll ensure speedier development in the next one year and take up a host of development and welfare oriented schemes and programmes," he said.
Gogoi said that Assam would progress on the path of development on the basis of its own development model and not that of any other state.
"No other model would work here. It is the Assam model of development that will work wonders here," he said.
He also announced that the state government would set up Employment Generation Centre and Innovation Centre at Amingaon for the benefit of the unemployed youths, entrepreneurs and young scientists.
The Rs 35 crore mega central library project will be seven to eight times bigger than most libraries in the state along with a 800-seat auditorium and an archive.
