Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today mourned the death of seven persons in a lightning that struck a boat on river Beki in lower Assam's Barpeta district last evening and extended financial aid to the victims.
In a statement here, the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the members of the bereaved families announced Rs 4 lakh each as ex-gratia to the next of kin of the victims and Rs 50,000 each to the grievously injured.
Wishing speedy recovery of the injured, Gogoi said the State Government would bear all the medical expenses for those who sustained burn injuries in the incident.
