Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated Assam Tourism Invitational Golf Meet by teeing the first shot at Kaziranga Golf Resort here.
The chief minister hit the opening shot and pegged a hole scoring a par in the stipulated time frame during the day-long meet organised by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and state's tourism department here today.
A total of 80 golfers from eight countries are taking part at the 18-hole golf course.

ATDC Managing Director Manik Chandra Sarma said on the occasion that the fair has been organised with the aim to encourage more people to come, play golf at the resort as it is close to oil fields and tea estates in Jorhat.
Jorhat could be the base for promotion of tourism to places such as Kazaringa National Park, historic Sivasagar, Maidams at Charaideo and the world's largest river island Majuli.
