Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed state chief secretary to initiate a "new comprehensive scheme" to fill the gaps emerged in the latest report of the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC).
According to an official release, Gogoi has constituted a committee headed by Chief Secretary V K Piparsenia to study the latest Socio-Economic and Caste Census on Assam that talked about key parameters like housing, land-holding/landlessness, educational status, status of women, the differently able, occupation, possession of assets, SC/ST households, incomes among others.
"The chief minister, while asking the chief secretary to make an in-depth study of the census report, said that necessary steps should be taken to fill up the gaps and to improve upon the parameters through a new comprehensive scheme," it said.
"The chief minister directed the chief secretary to submit a report soon," it said.
