Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today welcomed the Supreme Court observation that people against whom criminal and corruption charges have been framed should not be inducted as ministers.
Gogoi, in a statement issued here, said, "It is with immense pride I want to point out that there is at present no tainted minister in my council of ministers."
The Supreme Court in a judgment yesterday said that Prime Minister and Chief Ministers should desist from making appointment of people with criminal antecedents and should act in "national interest".
