Gohil bags six as Rangnekar XI fall for cheap score

Left-arm spinner Vijay Gohil bagged six wickets to help Vijay Merchant XI skittle out Khandu Rangnekar XI for a meagre total of 163 in 79.5 overs on the first day of the third round of the 28th Sportstar Trophy MCA U-19 Selection trial tournament here today.

Rangnekar XI, who opted to bat first, were in even direr situation at 84 for 7 before the eighth wicket pair of Tejas Agarwal and Parag Mistry rescued them from being shot out short of the 100 mark.

In another game, Dattu Phadkar XI medium-pacer Krithik Hanganwadi (4-30), left-arm spinner Amay Sawant (3-34) restricted Vijay Manjrekar XI to 149 (including 15 runs penalty) in 39 overs following a delayed start.
 

The first two rounds in the tournament were spoiled by rain, with play having been ruled out on all three days.

Brief scores: Khandu Rangnekar XI 163 all out in 79.5 overs (Tejas Agarwal 37, Parag Mistry 37; Vijay Gohil 6-31) vs Vijay Merchant XI 46-3 in 19 overs.

Vijay Manjrekar XI 149 all out in 30 overs (Pratik Manjrekar 39; Krithik Hanganwadi 4-30, Amay Sawant 3-34) vs Dattu Phadkar XI 90-3 in 19 overs.
