Congress national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil today targeted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi demanding better working conditions for women constables of the State Reserve Police.

In a press release issued here today, Gohil said the Standing Order (SO) issued by the BJP government about the work allotment in SRP is "inhuman and biased against women".

"As per the order, women constables should not be posted in Head Quarters (HQ) and that they should not be given table work or soft assignments. This is an insult to women and the SO speaks the idea as if it's a crime to be a woman constable in SRP," Gohil said.

He further claimed that there is no logic behind the order to restrict women from assigning duty in HQ.

"Harsh field duty is imposed on women and though chief minister boasts of good governance in the state, the reality is different," Gohil alleged.

"Women staff should be posted in HQ, so that they can care of their family responsibilities. The same issue is brought to the notice of High Court recently, because the CM has no time to look into the issue," he said in the press release.
