Rahul Mishra is fresh from his Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer16 show experience and the fashion designer feels if one wants to hit the right note on the French runway, one should avoid following trends.

The 35-year-old designer said he preferred telling a story through his creations.

"Fashion is about nowness. I do not believe in following trends. Especially, if you are going for something like Paris Fashion Week and you go with trends, it is a sheer waste of the opportunity.

"I feel for the garment to qualify as the really good fashion item it should be backed with a great story," he said.

Rahul, who made his Paris Fashion Week debut in October 2014, finds the international circuit full of cut throat competition.

"Fashion just cannot survive on one thing, it has to have various approach, any garment will not survive just based on embroidery or good cut or good textile.

"International fashion world is getting more and more competitive than ever before. So, for any garment to survive, it should have a story to tell, a concept and newness."

His collection titled "Fourth Dimension" showcased in Paris, was installed at Embassy of France, as part of Amazon India Fashion Week and the designer credited his connection with science and fascination with universe for inspiring him to create this line.

"The garments look like 3D, but I call them four dimensional as they have dedication, human love, time and detailing imbibed in them. For me four dimensional is a tool which is very essential to retain that human spirit of doing things with hands in this world of technology," he said.

In times when digital 3D printing have made the work easy, Rahul's collection involves century old techniques to create a completely modern look.

The collection goes with the idea that every thing in the universe is evolving from a single dot, and things are morphing into something new.

From sheer and opaque to drape and structure, the combination of different textures throughout the collection juxtapose various elements and shapes.
