The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs at the Vizag Airport today seized gold bars worth Rs 61 lakh, weighing around 2.024 kg, and arrested two men.
Mir Abbas Mahdi and Abbas Razi were arrested after arriving on Air India Flight (AI 952) from Dubai to Visakhapatnam via Hyderabad today.
Questioning revealed that Razi had boarded the flight at Hyderabad, and Mahdi, who was coming from Dubai, handed over the gold bars to him on the flight.
Razi concealed the bars in his trousers, and had planned to smuggle them in here.
